Our doctors have provided the Reno/Sparks area with quality orthodontic care for nearly 40 years. Our doctors are committed to the quality of care their patients receive. As such, Orthodontic Partners utilizes cutting edge technology to provide unparalleled service while also creating a fun and enjoyable environment. The end result is better orthodontic care and a better experience for our patients.

Orthodontic Partners offers three convenient locations in Reno and Sparks to better serve their patients. The office is normally open Monday through Friday and the hours vary so that we may offer a wider range of appointment times for the convenience of our patients. We open as early as 7:00 am and close as late as 6:00 pm. Please call for available times.

Orthodontic Partners has grown to become a leading orthodontic practice because of the partnerships we've developed our patients, their families and their general dentists. When you visit Orthodontic Partners you'll enter a patient/doctor relationship that will last throughout your treatment and beyond. In fact, we feel the partnership we build with you, your general dentist and any specialists you may have is vital to providing you with the best orthodontic results possible.

Ensuring the practice is on the cutting edge of technology is just one of the ways that Dr. Lohse, Dr. Corbridge, and Dr. Bruntz have continually provided unparalleled service and care for each and every patient since their practices' founding. Improvements in orthodontic treatment and care have evolved over the past several years and Orthodontic Partners has made it a primary goal to stay current with these improvements.

SureSmile is the first start-to-finish solution for fixed appliances that allows the orthodontist to apply 3-D diagnostic imaging and computer-aided treatment planning to unlock the power of shape memory alloy archwires through robotic customization. This results in greater control and efficiency for orthodontic care and can shorten orthodontic treatment up to 40%. Click here for more information about SureSmile >

We are very proud to have a revolutionary scanner in our practice - the NewTom 3D Imaging System. Orthodontic Partners was the first in the country to have a NewTom in their office and is one of only a few orthodontists nationwide to have a NewTom in office to date. This scanner provides us with a three-dimensional view of our patient's head. These detailed images can be manipulated by a computer, resulting in far more information than is possible from a two-dimensional x-ray. Click here for more information >

Growth forecasting is one of the technologies used that sets Orthodontic Partners apart from the rest. This service provides us with a "window" into the future that allows us to see how the jaws will grow if orthodontic treatment was not performed. With this information we can make the best, customized treatment recommendations based on the individual patient's growth pattern.
Awareness Training
The doctors have recommended Awareness Training for tongue thrust. Awareness Training is the use of SEMG (surface electromyography) biofeedback in conjunction with exercises and habit retraining.
What is tongue thrusting? It is the habit of thrusting the tongue against the teeth or in between the teeth while swallowing. We swallow a total of 1,200 to 2,000 times every 24 hours with 1-6 pounds of pressure per swallow. This constant pressure of the tongue will force the teeth and bone forward or apart. When the tongue is in the habit of thrusting against the teeth while swallowing, it also becomes accustomed to pushing against the teeth while at rest. This is an involuntary habit that is difficult to correct. During a normal swallow the mid-tongue should be placed on the roof of the mouth, NOT BETWEEN the teeth. Biofeedback is a remarkably simple, but powerful technique that uses sophisticated computerized equipment to measure the muscle activity in your body and feed it back to you so that you can learn to change habits. This information is provided to you visually via biofeedback instruments to help you learn to change or gain control over the way your tongue or jaw muscles respond. With time, awareness is increased and you will learn the proper way to swallow and use your tongue.
In addition, as a result of tongue thrust some develop poor breathing habits such as gulping in air while swallowing. Incorporated into the treatment is instruction in proper breathing techniques which will normalize the swallow and can also be used for things such as decreasing the stress during test taking, improving athletic performance etc.
Instruction in posture is also taught, allowing the jaw, neck and back to be in the optimum position for swallowing and for overall good health. The treatment consists of an initial assessment to determine if there is a problem and the extent of the problem. If training is indicated the protocol is 6 visits with a follow-up in 3 months. Treatment is one on one, with our trainer, for approximately 30-45 minutes. The patient will be required to do approximately 5-15 minutes of home practice daily.
The initial assessment is provided at no charge to help us determine the best way to facilitate you (or your child’s) treatment. The 6 visits of training and the follow-up are provided for $575.00, which can be arranged with our financial department.
